The Start of Something Beautiful: Welcome to my Travel Blog
Updated: Nov 10, 2019
I’ve had many blogs over the years. From an angsty Xanga page where I chronicled the highs and lows of middle school to a “grown-up” blogger account where I aimed to share my unique, sarcastic perspective with the world. This time around, I’m bringing something a little different to the table: passion. A passion for new experiences, a passion for connecting with all different kinds of people, and a passion for life.
I have always been the type of person who strives to push my own boundaries; do things that I know lie squarely outside of my comfort zone. It’s ironic because I so often find myself crippled by fear and anxiety, but I think that’s exactly why I push myself to follow my heart to new places. Why I moved 800 miles away from home for college to a campus with 30,000 students, of which I knew 0. Why I moved to New York City after graduation without a job or any idea how I was going to survive. When it’s all said and done, life is made up of a beautiful, messy collection of novel experiences (some good, some bad) and all of the memories we make along the way.
So let’s cut to the chase -- in the most straightforward sense, this is a travel blog. I want this space to be an intersection of my love for exploring new destinations, my type A need to meticulously research and plan out every trip I go on for months, and my desire to connect with anyone else out there like me who gets anxious and freaked out and stressed out by stuff but does it anyway. I want to share my tips, tricks, plans, successes and failures with you in the hopes that it will inspire you and empower you to go out and meet new people, see new places, and try new things. I’m not part of a travel agency or an industry expert by any means, but I’m a girl on a budget who knows her way around a Google Doc and is quite adept at tracking flights, comparing hotels, booking excursions, sifting through restaurant reviews, and finding deals (the shopping, ohhhh the shopping). So if I can hike in Arizona or skip through the hills of northern England, then so can you!
I have a big year ahead, so I hope you’ll stick around for a while and come on these adventures with me. Plus! I can also promise food pictures, shopping finds, snaps of my husband and photo shoots with my cat.
There’s so much world to see, so let’s plan smart, dream big and get going!
XOXO,
Nicole
